Billesdon, St John the Baptist

2017: installation of a Binns two-manual 7-rank extension organ, 22 stops.

The original organ, by Taylor of Leicester, needed a full rebuild and enlarging. The cost of this work would have been considerable and so we proposed a cost-effective alternative.

We installed a Binns two-manual 7-rank extension organ, formerly in St Andrew’s Bedford, with direct electric action and a detached console in the chancel. The entire instrument is enclosed in a swell box with independent switchable shutter fronts, one to the nave and one to the chancel. The case was formerly at St Margaret’s Aspley and fits perfectly in St John’s.
