The organ was converted to pneumatic action by Henry Willis in the 1950s and was in need of attention. Some additions on electric action were included in the early 1990s, though these proved to be unreliable.
We were called in to rebuild the whole organ. The main soundboards were converted to electro-pneumatic and the pedal organ and additional reed chest were converted to direct electric action. Electric drawstop solenoids were fitted to the console and slider solenoids to the soundboards. A new processor system, with provision of MIDI, was installed. The organ chamber was re-ordered to improve tonal egress and aesthetics, and a new winding system was installed.
